Victor Daniel Iorillo

Victor D. Iorillo was born March 22 1924 in Port Chester to Pasquale and Angelina Capozee Iorillo. In Rye his family lived on Maple Ave and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. Victor was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1942, where he was active in sports teams .

He enlisted in 1943 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and served on the AIRCRAFT CARRIER ALTAMAHA.
USS Altamaha (AVG-18/ACV-18/CVE-18) was an escort aircraft carrier in the United States Navy during World War II. She was named for the Altamaha River in Georgia. Altamaha won one battle star for her World War II service.

In 1948 he and Josephine Maniero were married in Rye. Victor worked in the Rye post office for many years. He was a seven time club champion at the Rye Wood Golf Club and was renowned for his putting skills his family said. He played in several Westchester Pro-Am classics and won dozens of local and regional contests . For more than 20 years Vic participated in Rye sports programs directing Little League and Babe Ruth baseball programs and serving as an umpire.

He volunteered with the Rye police and fire departments. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Westchester Umpires Association and the US Golf Association

Victor died on June 26, 1996, in his hometown at the age of 72. He was predeceased by his wife and survived by three sons Victor P Iorillo Jr of Glendale Calif, Richard Iorillo of San Francisco and Christopher Iorillo of Ridgefield Conn a brother Pasquale Iorillo of Rye and three grandchildren. A brother Sonny Arthur Iorillo and a sister Jean Jensen died earlier.
